People modifying object often due to they feel boring of the actual function of the object. Also, Adding humour element people will engaged with the object more anf create another experience with the object.
Take the coffee cup as an example. Coffee cup doesn’t change the design much itself for a long period of time. People usually play around with the graphic design around the cup surface which facing us. However, there is a advertising take the advantage of the bottom part, printing mouth and nose on it, when people drink coffee with this coffee, they suddenly got another mouth and nose attaching of the bottom part of the cup, and they might not realize.
Rubbish shooter is creating an experience for people throwing their own rubbish into the bin. Instead of having the “no litter” sign around the city, rubbish shooter did have the function of the sign indirectly, which is attracting people attention to litter into the bin.
Also, since lots of people take throwing rubbish into the bin as a shooting action, they might miss the target, but them seldom pick it up and throw it again. If rubbish shooting is attaching into the bin, this might remind people the feeling of playing basketball. As a shoot in a basketball game, the player will keep shooting if they miss the target. That’s the attitude of a shooter.
