Clock in your noticeboard
From Mod Mania
Hi Everyone,
This is my first project..I want to make an all in one noticeboard, so i'll attach a clock into a noticeboard. I might also put a calendar on it. I choose noticeboard because we (me and my housemate) really need it and want to get one. So, I bought one from BIG W for $13. Then I bought a $2 alarm clock from Reject Shop.
- STEP 1 - DISMANTLING THE CLOCK*
Firstly, I dismantle the alarm clock using the screwdriver.
- STEP 2 - THE BOARD*
Then I moved on to the board. I estimated where I will attached the clock. And I decided to put it on the bottom left. After that, I cut the hole slowly with the scalpel and the screwdriver.
Because of the thickness of the board, I couldn't just attached it, I have to make another blind hole at the back of the board to reduce the thickness.
- STEP 3 - ATTACHING THE CLOCK TO THE BOARD*
Here is where I attached the clock to the board
And this is what left from this mod. I would like to mod it into a photo frame. So, see you on the next project=D
- FURTHER MOD ON THE NOTICEBOARD*
It has been a long time since the last previous step was done. Since then, it was hung on the wall. But I have just made some changes, I changed the position, it is currently in landscape (cork board on the left, whitboard on the right), which makes the clock placed on the top left of the board. This is because my sister and my housemate prefer it that way and the clock is more obvious.
Then I put a calendar and key hanger on it... Because noticeboard is supposed to be practical and effective.. And my housemate and my brother really like to put their key on the table or somewhere else, and everytime when they want to go out they look for their keys.. So, with key handle, they shouldn't be looking for their keys anymore (hopefully).
Below is the diagram of my notice board.
To make the calendar and the key hanger. Calendar is made into dice form. I went to the workshop and cut the timber and MDF from the scrap box... Well, due to the rules, I have no pictures of me working on the workshop. Basically, I just measure and cut the timber with bend saw...
When I reached home, I sand the timber...
Then I tried to attached the block holder to the notice board. Previously I tried to used glue gun but it didn't stick properly so i tried to use the wire.
>> After it is attached, at the bottom part, is the key holder, I was checking the position.
Stick all of the key holder... Well, as shown in the picture, I melt the glue stick using the lighter (because I broke my glue gun = =)
>>sticking the key holder..
>> when everything are sticked to the noticeboard...
Next draw on the calendar blocks.. Sorry guys, have no pic on this one... Because I just simply write on it. So just have a look at the final =D
Here is the picture on the final...
Key holder also can be used to place the marker. There are 5 key holder because there are 4 of us and I put extra one.
When you have a look on the calendar, it actually works just like a dice..
But because we have 7,8,9,0 for dates, I made 2 different type of dice. The first one is 1,2,3,4,5,6. The second one is 0,1,2,7,8,9. It simply because we need 0,7,8,9 and we don't need two 3,4,5,6 (Because there is no 33 on dates or 44, and so on). And for the day, I put Saturday and Sunday together..
It's simply because I need 7 sides while I just have 6 sides available. And I chose Saturday and Sunday because they are weekend.
Well that's all about my "clock in your noticeboard" project. After all, I am quite happy with it, because it has this handmade look... and it is useful and practical.. It has clock (although it has no point to show the exact time. but i think we don't need to see the exact time from this clock, i just need the clock to know if i am late or not, just to know roughly the time. calendar, with day... because we are all forgetful, we don't remember day and date (especially when it's holiday or busy day =D). In addition, there is key holder, which is very useful for all of us =D
