Hyundai Championship

From Mod Mania

Fifa 09 Mod: Hyundai Championship

In this mod of Fifa 09 i will teach you how to create your own league with, personalised teams and kits. Through the patch i created, which consists of the Hyundai Championship (with is a second division to the A-League), this championship also features a playoff between second and third for promotion. Six new teams: Adelaide City FC, Brisbane Athletic, Darwin FC, Melbourne Phoenix FC, Perth United and Sydney Strikers. Each team has four kits, a home, away , third and goalkeeper. Finally all six teams have a pair of boots to match there team colours.

The Badge:

The first step to creating this patch is creating the six teams that are going to make up the league. The First step to creating a new team, is creating a badge for them. The logo file has to be a *.png file with dimensions 128x128, so that the game can read it.

File:MPFC.jpg

This is a the team badge for the Melbourne Phoenix FC. Team badges are best created on Illustrator, so that the badges can be resized without loosing the image quality. The next step is uploading the Badge into Creation Master 09, and setting up the team.

File:Team.jpg

This is the team edit page in the program, i have already uploaded the badge for Adelaide City FC. On this page i can also edit the teams short name (how it appears on the scoreboard) where the team recruits players from, if the have a rival team, the crowd size, and the domestic and international prestige (the higher the prestige, the better chance you have of getting good players for little money). Although you can edit the team level in this page, it is best served through the player editing page.

The Teams: The next step in the team creation process is creating a kit, this is best done through photoshop.

File:Kit.jpg‎

Firstly start of with a template. This is the how the game reads the picture file, which is slightly distorted in the file so it may take a few goes to get right. The file for the kits are either 512x1024 or 1024x1024, it's usually best to work by the 512x1024 as the the dimensions are closer to what the kit size in the game, this means less playing around trying to get the proportions right. Once you have created the pattern and colours for the team, you need to add badges and sponsors. Similar to the badges creating sponsors in illustrator is an easy way to to use the one file across a range of kits.

Once the kit file is created the next step is to upload it through creation master.

File:Brisbane.jpg‎

On this page in Creation Master you can upload four kits for the teams, a home, away, goalkeeper and third kit. Each kit has three colours associated with it, this is seen just below the kit selection. The three colours need to be changed to the three most prominent colours that the kit has, if a kit has only two colours choose the dominant colour twice, depending on the amount that the secondary colour features. The game cross-references these colours against each other and is how the kits automatically get chosen so both teams aren't wearing similar colours. On this page you can also upload a mini kit (just the top half of the shirt), this image is used in the team selection screen of the game, so you can see a preview of the kit. This can be done through taking a photo of the full kit on the right of the screen. On this page you can also change whether the kits have numbers, what colours and styles they are, as well as choosing a collar style.

The League: Once all the teams have been created, it's time to create a league to add them too.

File:League.jpg‎

On this page you can add new teams to the league by searching teams in the search bar and then clicking the add button next to it (green + on the white sheet). This page also requires you to create a name for the league, it's prestige and what countries league is it.

The Tournament: Once the league is created it's time to create a fixture and relegation system.

File:Hyuandai_Chamionship.jpg‎

The tournament section of the program is where you set up when the fixtures are played, the dates for the start and end of competition. and most importantly the relegation system. The Hyuandai Championship is set up as a second division to the Hyuandai A-League. The relegation and promotion system works as follows, the bottom two teams from the A-League get automatically relegated to the championship. The top team from the championship gets automatically promoted to the A-League, while second and third have a two tie playoff against each other with the winner going through.

File:cup.jpg‎

I have also created the Australian F.A. Cup, this is a two tie knockout competition between teams in the A-League and the Championship. I have made this a midweek cup that always runs on a wednesday.

The Boots: You can also upload additional features to the game such as boots, for this patch i added a personalised boot for each team. These are the boots for Melbourne Phoenix:
