Mini Mod Projects

From Mod Mania

The first mini project is a singlet that gets modified into a handy carry bag with pockets.

(1) First the singlet was turned inside out. Then the carry bag volume size was determined; a line was marked across the singlet indicating the bottom of the bag.

(2) Using scissors the singlet was cut across the line. The excess material was kept to be used as pockets later on.

(3)The bottom of the cut peice of the singlet is going to be sown to close the hole up. At this stage the singlet is still inside out.

(4) Once the singlet has been sown along the bottom. The singlet can be turned inside out so the the sown side is not shown on the outside of the bag. The singlet should now take its form as a carry bag, The Arm holes become the carry handles for the bag.

(5) With the excess material trimmings, if desired a pocket can be made. A rough square piece of the singlet material was placed onto the bag to position the pocket.

(6) Once the pocket is sown onto the singlet the bag is complete. The Pocket was sown onto one side of the singlet so the bag wasn’t sown together.

The Second Project was a cereal box modified into a useful book stop.

(1) For this mod project a cereal box is modified into a book stop for the book shelf. The way that the cereal box is going to be transformed into book stop is by pouring sand into the cereal box to add weight to it, and be able to handle books being leaned on the box.

(2) A plastic bag is placed within it the box to prevent sand from seeping through the gaps of the box.

(3) Sand was poured into the plastic, Sand was filled about three quarters to the top of the bag because if it was filled to the top the cereal box would expand and lose balance. Once filled, the bag was sealed with tape.

The third and final mod project was milk crates that was modified into a reasonably comfortable stool seat.

For this Mod Project some milk crates were modified into a stool, by using milk crates, foam mats and some rope.

(1) First the crates were stacked up on top of each other, This was the main frame of the stool.

(2) The foam mat was placed on top of the milk crates, and bend around the crates form. The foam mat acts as cushioning for the seat.

(3) Then rope was used to tie the foam mat to the milk crates and was threaded in and out of the milk crates. The rope also aided in adding stability to the stool seat.
