PC and so called software updates

How many times have we been alerted on the pc that a new release or updated has popped up on the screen and without any thought forced to say 'yes update'?
Theres a question of mediority that we face when doing so is it worth the download? is it legitamite or just a totally waste of time.
Why do these companies like microsoft and other download programs release programs such as minor updates and betas when in due time they no that there pointless and guna have bugs that they know the user will find out and will cause greater problems and updates
Im a great believer of always updating software and programming to get the best out of my computers performance and the programs it offers, but at times its frustrating like itunes - great program dont get me wrong but just about every week theres a 7.6.7 update or something along those lines . . . here we go another 60 or 70mb down the drain all for the point of a lil sidebar update or music shop option big deal.
While its as a convience to receive updates but at the same time to too many can just cause frustration such as updates and betas for virus ect, probably half the time its the cause of the virus from these updates.
I installed a update for adobe thinking it would help me, instead it backfired telling me my this program is no longer working and that i need to uninstall and reinstall adobe suite . . . and so I did and it dont work! So in reality what was the whole point of the update so it causes more headaches before mid semester reviews lol
While updates can be justifiable to certain problems and reasons it can cause more stress at the same time too . . . to be continued
