Phone and Mp3 players to cases
From Mod Mania
The aim of this project is to modify old, phones and mp3 players into ciggarette cases, credit card holders and other pocket sized holding devices.
The victim: My mates old, once loved Ipod touch.
Step 1: I opened the Ipod and, rather brutishly ripped the contents of it out. (unfortunately the images corrupted so i have no pictures detailing the process.)
Step 2:
i assembled all the necessary tools (seen above)
-Sharpie
-Box Cutter
-Electric tape
-Ipod carcass
Step 3:
measuring the width of the ipod i cut 3 stips, 2 to equal the total width and length, the third to fold around and assist in connecting the top of the pouch. this third strip had its sticky side faceing towards the camera, the others were the opposite.
Note the curved corners and cut on the top right to accomodate the bits i could not remove from the ipod.
Step 4:
Ensuring that the eletric tape base rested correctly in the ipod, i stuck it down against the silve (base) of teh ipod. this presented me with another issue, the sticky tape wasnt strong enough to give adequate purchase against the steel. sticking it in at this phase also helped me trip the edges to make everything fit perfectly.
Step 5:
I completed teh top of the pouch and left one end open. also make sure no sticky surface is exposed on the inside or top, outside of th pouch, this may require several layers to achieve.
Step 6:
returning the pouch to the base of the ipod i did a final check to ensure everything fitted well. i also took this opportunity to amend the issue i found in Step 4. i covered teh base of the ipod with super glue and stuck the sticky tape to that, which solved the issue.
Step 7:
Finally i replaced the front face to see if it all fits well and it did, now to check if it holds items whilst closed...
