"EMERGENT ROOF"

Image:B&W.jpg

The aim of our project is to use the emergent ability of the weather. We wanted to create a roof canopy system which reacts with the changes in the weather.

Depending on the orientation of the sun, the roof canopy system reacts to the light produced and changes shape.

The sun luminance will define new spaces each time it changes its position in the sky. The space will be continually modified by the variations in the lighting. As the space is defined by the weather alone without any human interference, we cannot know exactly what spaces will be produced at any given time.

1ST STEP:

6 blinds which are rotated to 90 degrees to the angle of the line which represent the sun.

2ND STEP:

Boxes take place on a grid and rotate to 90 degrees to the angle of the sun.

3RD STEP:

Boxes take place on three different grids which rotate to 3 different angles to the angle of the sun.

4TH STEP:

The sun is represented by a sphere. The rotation of the boxes depend on the distance between the sun and the box.

5TH STEP:

The rotation and the size of the boxes depend on the distance between the sun and the box.

6TH STEP:

The rotation of the boxes and the shape of the grid depend on the distance between the sun and the box.
