Barry’s TV Cabinet was developed for ‘Object Therapy’, curated by Guy Keulemans, Andy Marks, Niklavs Rubenis and Dan Honey. Originally exhibited at Hotel-Hotel, Canberra, and later at the Australian Design Centre, Sydney and touring nationally.
The work is a remaking of Barry’s 1977 colour television. Much of the unit has been discarded resulting in a slim cabinet containing a functional TV interface. Rather than act as a TV receiver the unit now broadcasts TV signals from the 1970’s. This local broadcast can be tuned into from adjacent analogue TVs.
