Five works developed for Craft Cubed curated by Joe Pascoe, Craft Victoria Gallery, Melbourne.
Based on the work of five contemporary Melbourne artists – Spiros Panigirakis, Karl Wiebke, Bianca Hester, Robert Owen and Christopher L.G. Hill – each object consists of an existing work that has been modified to perform a ‘useful’ function. A fragment from Spiros Panigirakis’ Ferntree Gully work becomes Radio National shelf, Karl Wiebke’s painting joins with His extensive music collection and a Bang & Olufsen stereo to become Karl FM, Bianca Hester’s cast rock becomes Rock Radio, Robert Owen’s hypercube work Florentia is remade as Hypercube TV, and Christopher L.G. Hill’s collage bank note becomes a packing tape wallet.
