If I’m going to mount moving mirrors on the outside of ACCA then my dinky ply construction (from a previous post) just ain’t going to cut it. I need some more serious tech.
Andrew gave me this moving head light to experiment with. This thing is solid – pan and tilt movement, good bearings, mostly aluminium construction.
The stepper motor control chips are socketed, so I should be able to reuse them in my own design.
The head is packed with 8 stepper motors controlling shutter, focus, etc.
Check out this beautiful gobo and colour wheel mechanism.
I stripped the unit down to its basic pan and tilt functions. This is exactly what I’m looking for.
All I need now are half a dozen more.
