Inert, 2006

A project by choreographer and dancer Simon Ellis, Inert is a performance that immerses an audience of two in a subtle and extraordinarily intimate world.

I was responsible for the staging which positioned the two audience members on individual tilting platforms. These platforms, developed in collaboration with Simon Ellis, gradually shift the viewer from a near-vertical to near-horizontal position. In 2006, Inert was a finalist in the Australian Dance Awards ‘Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance’ category, and received two Dance Magazine Critics Awards, ‘Best new work’ (Herald Sun), and ‘Most outstanding choreography’ (The Age).
