Job No. 27
iPod repair log.
Model:
mini blue
(windows formatted)
Initial Condition:
some small scratches
small dint to the left of the screen
dark marks around screen edge
mini wont turn on
no activity
Action:
Looks like the screen has been damaged and the liquid crystal has leaked.
Connected iPod to Mac
– an extremely faint “do not disconnect” appears on the iPod screen
– iPod mounts to desktop
– iPod appears in iTunes
Charged iPod for 1/2 hour
Disconnected iPod
– iPod boots to standard menu (very faint on the screen)
– apart from the screen the iPod appears to be functioning normally
Opened iPod
– this iPod was quite stubborn and I had to resort to using a blade to remove the plastic end pieces
– there’s a strange little sticker inside this iPod
– and a small crack across the top left corner of the screen
I was hoping to use the screen from job 17 to repair this mini however they appear to be different and the screen will not fit this iPod.
Report:
The iPod screen has a small crack and the screen is almost impossible to read. The screen cannot be repaired, a replacement is required.
Notes:
Was hoping to use screen from job number 17 however it appears to be unsuitable.
