iSOP is Now Closed

Published by under about

The exhibition Bartertown has ended and the iPod Social Outreach Program is no longer taking iPods for repair. I’d like to thank the exhibition curator Nadine Christensen and Jarrod Rawlins from Uplands Gallery for their support with this project. Also, a big thank you to everyone who participated in the program. A total of twenty-eight iPods were submitted to iSOP. Of these sixteen were successfully repaired, ten were beyond my help (and two didn’t seem to have anything wrong with them). Details of the repair process can be found in the repair logs (via links in the side bar). This site will remain as a public resource; hopefully acting as a source of encouragement and guidance for people wanting to fix their own iPods. I also urge you to consider running your own iPod Social Outreach Program. The advantage such a project gives by providing access to multiple iPods with which to compare and exchange components is invaluable in the repair process. This collective approach extends the possibilities of DIY repair and is a real alternative to the conventional repair options.Everything on the iSOP site is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.5 License, so you can use the resources here to set up your own non-commercial program. Posters, consent forms, and DIY instructions can be accessed via the downloads page. These files may be modified to suit your needs; if you want help or advice leave a comment or send an email to iSOP [at] inbox [dot] com
